Army imposes 24 hour curfew in Maiduguri

Due to the latest activities of Boko Haram in and around Maiduguri the Borno State capital, the Nigerian Army has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Maiduguri. 

Boko Haram insurgents attacked Kayamla, a village about 10km away from Maiduguri town on Wednesday around 6:30pm. Heavy gunshots were heard from the direction of the Giwa Barracks which serves as the headquarters of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army


Before the imposition of the 24-hour curfew,
Maiduguri had been under a 7pm to 6am curfew. On Wednesday, residents took to their heels during the gun fire, to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

In recent times, Boko Haram has suffered great losses as Nigerian military stormed Sambisa forest, believed to be the stronghold of the terrorists and rescued over one thousand women and children.
