The Nigerian Army has said the participation of its leadership in the front line of offensives has contributed to its recent successes against Boko Haram terrorists.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, told Channels Television on Monday that the renewed vigour in the fight against the Boko Haram is such that rather than wait for the insurgents to attack, the military, in conjunction with their counterparts in neighbouring countries, constantly launches offensive operation against the terrorists.

Usman declined comments on recent revelations by the immediate past Chief of Army Staff that, the army had not been equipped since 2006.

He however expressed that the renewed interest by the U.S in the fight against the terrorists was a welcome development.

He assured that the military was working tirelessly to bring insurgency in the north eastern part of Nigeria and the northern region to an end.
