The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase, has approved the post-humous promotion of the three deceased officers who lost their lives in the recent Yobe suicide bomb attack
In a statement signed by the Force PRO, the IGP went on to salute the courage displayed by the deceased officers, saying if not for their indomitable spirit and professionalism, "the terrorists would have detonated the explosives in a high profile target"
Arase regretted the death in active service of three officers in
the unfortunate incident, and has ordered the Police Medical Department to foot the bill of the injured officer.

He went on to salute the courage and gallantry displayed by officers of the Yobe State Command in containing the menace of insurgency in the state.
"The IGP is highly pleased that in spite of the imminent challenges, the officers exhibited a high sense of patriotism and dedication to duty" a statement posted on the Police website read.
According to the statement, Arase has also ordered that "the four children of the deceased officers be offered scholarship up to secondary school level, while the families will be afforded priority in the budding Police Housing Scheme."
