Senator Shehu Sani has praised Bola Tinubu, Nigeria's President-Elect, for his stance on not reimbursing the cost of flyovers constructed on federal government roads by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. In a recent event, Tinubu commissioned the 12th flyover built by Governor Wike in Port Harcourt, where he made the statement.

Sani took to Twitter to express his appreciation for Tinubu's statement. He said that state governments often execute federal projects without consent, take credit for them, and demand exorbitant refunds amounting to hundreds of billions of naira, with the collaboration of federal finance and works ministries. He added that Tinubu's "I owe nothing" response indicates that he knows the tricks employed in such situations.

The Senator's reaction highlights the issue of state governments carrying out federal projects without due process and then demanding reimbursement from the federal government. Tinubu's stance indicates a shift from the usual practice of state governments executing federal projects without approval. This move could promote transparency and accountability in governance, as state governments will be more cautious in executing projects on federal roads without due process.

Reacting to tinubu Statement, Sani wrote on Twitter;

"State Governments are in the habit of executing Federal projects without consent,taking the glory and demanding outrageous refund in hundreds of Billions with the collaboration of Finance & Works Federal Ministries.Asiwaju’s “I owe nothing” response shows he knows this tricks."
