134 Victims rescued
A total of 134 victims who were kidnapped from different parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been rescued by vigilantes in Kogi State, according to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kogi State, Onogwu Muhammed. The rescued victims were freed during recent operations conducted by the Kogi vigilantes in forests located in Kogi and some parts of Nasarawa State. The vigilantes raided the hideouts of kidnappers in Odullo forest of Kogi and Sardauna in Nasarawa State, rescuing those who were abducted from Abaji, Kuje, and Kwali in FCT, as well as Toto council area of Nasarawa.
The Chairman of Kogi/Koton Karfe Local Government Area, Dauda Aliyu, received the rescued victims and commended the vigilantes for their bravery. He also appreciated the support of the state government for security operatives in the state. The victims were reunited with their families in their respective local government areas.
Yahaya Bello Governor of Kogi State has been praised for supporting the vigilantes in their efforts to combat insecurity in the state. The Kogi State Security Adviser, Comdr. Jerry Omodara (retd), acknowledged the efforts of the vigilantes and other security agencies in the state in fighting crime and reiterated the governor's commitment to making Kogi the safest state in Nigeria. About 92 vigilantes participated in the operation at the Odullo Forest in Kogi LGA before advancing to Sardauna in Nasarawa State. The Kogi State Government has pledged to continue making the state uninhabitable for criminals
