The Nigerian Senate has directed President Buhari's ministerial nominees, to declare their assets and liabilities, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the Senate standing rules.
In a seeming divergence from the Senate's earlier decision, ex-federal lawmakers on the ministerial list, are only to be questioned by Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Moreover, a minimum of two out of three senators per state, are required to adopt each ministerial nominee.
The Chairman, Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Media, Senator Dino Melaiye disclosed this at a briefing, on the modalities for the screening and confirmation of new ministers.
According to him, ministerial nominees who do not declare their assets and liabilities risk disqualification.
