The Nigerian military has said it considers no particular person -- including the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau -- to be of much relevance in the ongoing onslaught against insurgency in the North East.

Shekau or any of his cohorts, according to the military, "would not deter the spate of the military operations to rid the country of criminals hiding under strange religious ideology to kill innocent Nigerians"

Colonel Rabe Abubakar, Acting Director Defence Information said "The Military viewed as irrelevant and fruitless effort, the motive behind the recent audio clip presumably released by Shekau, the acclaimed leader of Boko Haram sect."

Nigerians have been urged not to lose sleep over the clip as this was a case of a "drowning person struggling to hold on to anything to remain afloat." since Boko Haram terrorists have seriously been decimated.

The Defence Headquarters further assured that it "did not lie about the successes recorded so far in its counterinsurgency operations" pointing interested persons to explore the liberated communities which were previously under the throes of Boko Haram.

Members of the terrorist group have been surrendering and denouncing radicalization, the DHQ spokesperson said, advising Shekau "or his ghost, cohorts or impersonators" to also surrender.

Nigerians have therefore been urged again to report any suspicious persons or object to law enforcement agencies assuring that the military was "working round the clock to rid the country of this devilish and anti-human group."
