Mourinho disposes Community Shield medal, says "We were the best team"

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho did not take his runners-up medal home after their 1-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley.

"We were the best team. We had more initiative, we controlled the game by having ball possession." Mourinho told BT Sport

"But when a team is behind, the energy and intensity to turn results around is more difficult because people are not sharp."

The Chelsea manager also congratulated the North-London club, saying "Arsenal defended with 10 players, they put everybody in front of their own line and they had good organisation, congratulations to them."

Mourinho however expressed that he didn't want the medal and threw it away, saying "I don't keep the ones when I win, imagine the ones when I lose."

It is the first time in 14 attempts that Wenger is defeating Mourinho. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won the game for Arsenal.
