Angel Di Maria is being 'taught a lesson' by Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, making his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain a difficult escape.

The United boss is angry at the perceived lack of respect shown by the Argentinian winger and United are now demanding for at least £45m instead of the initial £43.7million reports The Mirror.

Di Maria is being made to feel the full fury of United, as they have decided to demand at least £45m for the player – and they also want more of the fee paid up front, which could stretch negotiations into next week.

It will be recalled that Manchester United were close to agreeing a £43.7million deal with PSG however, the Dutch boss feels the 27-year-old has been disrespectful to the Manchester club and himself... and he wants to ensure there is no easy exit to Paris. He has therefore decided to teach him a painful lesson with a hard stance over negotiations.

PSG had originally booked a medical for Di Maria for Monday, but it now seems likely to be delayed, as the Argentina international finds himself on the end of some punishing penalties from his English club.

He has already been fined £360,000 for “disappearing” after failing to show for the second half of United’s pre-season tour of the United States, and now Old Trafford officials will speak with the PFA with a view to extending that punishment.
