The National Publicity Secretary of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, has written a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accusing the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of financial recklessness, insensitivity and corruption.

The petition, submitted on Monday on behalf of a group called Osun Stakeholders and titled “Petition against Governor Rauf Aregbesola for financial recklessness, corruption, money laundering and fraudulent application of Osun State’s resources,” alleged that the governor had dragged the state into
abject poverty and life had become difficult for residents.

Osun, according to the petition became the poorest state in Nigeria under Rauf Aregbesola due to purposelessness and insensitivity of the highest order, while families now found it difficult to survive.

The petition also stated that, “the state is littered with abandoned projects even though loans were secured by this administration to execute them. Today, our dear state has become the embodiment of lack, poverty, purposelessness, wickedness and insensitivity of political leaders of the highest order in the country.”

Odumakin emphasized that the people of the state now await the EFCC to ensure that the state’s funds were recovered in order to have meaningful progress.
