The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed that the issue of gay marriage actually came up during Buhari's visit to the US but the President was point blank on Nigeria's stand on the issue.

This was made known on his Twitter handle, on Wednesday, where he disclosed that talks shifted when President Buhari emphatically rejected the idea.

According to him, "The issue of gay marriage came up here yesterday. PMB was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture".

About three hours later, he posted again "The same sex marriage issue came up at the joint session of Session of Senate and House Committees on Foreign Affairs, not in direct talks with Obama".

Majority of Nigerians have shown strong rejection of the idea of same sex marriage. It will be recalled that before the President's visit to the US, civil groups urged him not to listen to U.S President, Obama, on the same sex marriage issue.
