African ambassadors have condemned the activities of the Boko Haram sect in Nigeria’s north east.

The Dean of the African Ambassadors’ Group, Ambassador Oubi Bachir, at the 52nd African Day celebration in Abuja,  noted that African countries must work together to fight the insurgents.

The diplomats representing several African countries also mark the Nelson Mandela International Day, using the event to discuss issues affecting the African continent.

The ambassadors emphasized that peace and stability in Nigeria is imperative as Nigeria is Africa’s biggest economy.

Acknowledging the role Nigeria plays on the African continent, they expressed hope that their countries would support Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.

There are indications that Nigeria might be able to find more allies among African countries to step up its combat against Boko Haram insurgency.
