The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has declared tomorrow Friday, 6th of February, 2015 work free. This is to enable public servants in Lagos State obtain the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in preparation for the elections.

It will be recalled that the state previously declared a work free day in December 2014, to enable public servants register for the PVCs.

The APC had earlier challenged the Federal Government to declare a two-day public holiday, to enable working class Nigerians who were yet to collect their PVCs do so. The party also added that "APC states will declare two public holidays for this purpose"

Other states that have declared public holidays for the same reasons include Edo, Imo and Niger states.
