The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Monday, sacked the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) boss Young Arabamen and replaced him with retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Chris Olakpe.
Olakpe’s wealth of experience according to the Governor, makes him fit for the job, in response to unending public complaints on the situation of traffic in the state.
The new LASTMA boss, Christian Akioja Olakpe is a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1982 and served as
Commissioner of Police in Plateau state.
He was also the Deputy Commandant of the Police Academy, Kano and Commissioner of Police, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, Lagos.
He is a Member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians (IABT) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (ICAP).

The Governor had earlier approved the appointment of a new General Manager for LASTMA, however, due to the surge in public outcry, he opted for a seasoned former AIG.
