Tribunal adjourns hearing of charges against Saraki, pending Court of Appeal judgment

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) today, adjourned hearing of charges bordering on false declaration of assets against the Senate President, Olubukola Saraki, pending the pronouncement of judgment by the Court Appeal which was earlier scheduled for November 19, but adjourned indefinitely.

The CCT Chairman, Hon Danladi Yakubu Umar, in his ruling alongside with a Hon Member Agwadza William Atedze unanimously adjourned to 5th and 6th of November 2015 for reporting and hearing pending the judgement from Court of Appeal, as mark of respect.

The amendment of criminal justice system however allows the Tribunal to continue with the matter before it without staying in it proceedings.

The Senate President accompanied by a large retinue of senators, were in attendance at today's hearing.

The CCT also issued out bench warrant against two Permanent Secretaries and one Director from the office of Jigawa State Head of Service for not appearing at today’s hearing, after being served by the court bailiff.

The Chairman of the Tribunal directed the Jigawa state Commissioner of Police to forcefully produce Aminu Zakari Umar a Director, and two Permanent secretaries in the office of Jigawa State Head of Service, Mohammad B. Mu’azu and Mohammad Musa O. on the 17th November, 2015.
