A Russian passenger plane has disappeared from radar after taking off from Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh airport on Saturday, NBC reports.
Flight Radar 24, which tracks air traffic, said the missing plane was around 18 years old.
Russia's Federal Air Transportation Agency spokesman Sergei Izvolsky told NBC News that a search is underway for Flight 79628, which was operated under the
Metrojet brand and was bound for St. Petersburg.

He said the flight was meant to contact air-traffic control in Cyprus about 23 minutes after taking off from the Egyptian resort city but never did. It then disappeared from radar and the search is ongoing, Izvolsky added.
