A Russian airliner that reportedly disappeared from radar has been confirmed to have crashed in Egypt's Sinai peninsula.
The Airbus A-321 carrying 224 passengers and crew was flying from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg in Russia when it crashed in one of the desolate mountainous areas of Sinai reports say.
Poor weather conditions caused delay in locating the site of the crash however, search and rescue operations are already on.
Egyptian security sources said there was no indication that the Airbus jet had been shot down or blown up.

After take off at 5:51 a.m. Cairo time, it reportedly disappeared from radar screens 23 minutes later.
The plane was completely destroyed and all those on board are likely to have died, an Egyptian security officer who arrived at the scene told Reuters by telephone.
