The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State, ordering a fresh election.
The tribunal, headed by Suleiman Ambrosa delivered its ruling in Abuja on Saturday.
The APC candidate, Mr. Peterside, said the election was marred by intimidation of voters, non-availability of result sheets, snatching of electoral materials, non-collation of results at wards and LG levels and many other irregularities.
The tribunal was concerned with whether the petitioners had proven their case, which it said the APC candidate did and therefore sacked the PDP candidate, Nyesom Wike, and ordered a fresh election.
According to the tribunal, a simple glance at the results (Exhibit A10) revealed that the election was not conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act, adding that the character of voters called by Mr. Wike had been impugned under cross-examination.
Mr. Wike’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has however said the ruling would be challenged.

The petition challenging the election of Mr. Wike as Rivers State Governor was filed by Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the election.
