The Lagos State Government on Sunday restated that it was determined to restrict the movement of trailers and articulated vehicles within the metropolis.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu, disclosed this at a meeting with the leadership of the various transport unions in the state, expressing that trailer drivers had often, previously violated this rule, hence the need for enforcement.

Government would henceforth go tough on trailers and long vehicles that contravene the law, impounding such vehicles and making them pay a fine, Mr. Whenu said

With the enforcement, trailers are therefore restricted from movement between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The State Chairman of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Musa Muhammed, on behalf of other union leaders, expressed their readiness to comply with the laws and cooperate with the government to ensure sanity in the transport sector

In attendance were the State Chairman of the Taxi Cab Operators, Tajudeen Adetoro; and the State Treasurer, National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, among others.
