The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested ten suspected dealers of fake bottled fruit wines in an operation that took place in two places at Ikorodu and lasted for about 30 hours.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that among the suspects was a minor, who worked for Princess Fruits,while other suspects were arrested in their shops where they displayed the wines.
"The Princess Fruits wine was being produced in a mini flat within Lucky Fibre area, while Merry Fruits wine was produced in a four-bedroom flat in Oke-Agbo area, Ikorodu." Commandant of the corps in Lagos State, Mr Gabriel Abafi, said
"Items found during the arrest are; 112 packs of princess and merry fruit wines of six bottles per pack, two generator sets, a water tank, a mixing tank and its components.
"Others include a pumping machine, a gas cylinder, three sealing machines and some white powdery substances,'' Abafi said.
According to him, the suspects include Emmanuel Godwin,19; Ifeanyichukwu Mba,23; Nweke Okechukwu,18 and Emmanuel Mba, 21.
The remaining are Duru Francis,19; Chukwu Emmanuel, 24; Kazim Idowu, 20; Ona Chibuike, 30 and Clara Akalazu.
Abafi warned those engaged in the illegal business to stop or face the wrath of the law.
