President Muhammadu Buhari has relieved Joseph Dawah of his appointment as Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and appointed Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.
In a statement signed by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President appointed a new NNPC boss and a new NCC boss.
The new NNPC boss Dr. Kachikwu, was the Executive Vice Chairman and General Counsel of Exxon-Mobil (Africa), is to take over from Dr. Joseph Thlama Dawha and hails from Onicha-Ugbo in Delta State.
He studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Nigerian Law School. He also has Masters and Doctorate Degrees from the Harvard Law School.
President Buhari also approved the appointment of Professor Umaru Garba Danbatta as the new Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to take over from Dr. Eugene Juwah whose tenure expired on July 29, 2015.
The new NCC boss holds a Doctorate Degree in Electronic Engineering. His other academic qualifications include a Bachelors Degree and Masters in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications.
He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bayero University, Kano.
