According to reports, suspected Boko Haram insurgents have killed five muhajirin (Koranic students) and one Malian,” said a security source in the area.
A second local security source confirmed the attack which he said was on the island of Tetewa, about 80 kilometres from N’Djamena, capital of the country.
Chad, which has been at the forefront of a regional military campaign against Boko Haram, has suffered multiple attacks from the sect in recent times.
On Saturday, 14 people were killed and 74 injured by a man dressed in a woman’s burqa at a main market in N’Djamena.
