The Senate has postponed the screening of the newly appointed service chiefs, earlier slated for Thursday, to Tuesday next week.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had earlier announced on Wednesday, that the newly appointed service chiefs would be screened on Thursday by 11am, urging members to be punctual.

The leadership of the Senate however announced a postponement later, to enable the Service Chiefs as well as the senate president, attend the pulling-out parade being organised by the military for Alex Badeh, former chief of defence staff

The event, where the former chief of defence staff, Alex Badeh would be formally disengaged from service, would hold at the Mogadishu Cantonment by 9am.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Sanni Onogu, told journalists on Wednesday that the shift in the date of screening was to enable the new service chiefs and Saraki, to attend the event.

The service chiefs appointed by the President on July 13, to be confirmed by the senate are Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, chief of defence staff; Yusuf Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff; Ibot Ekwe-Ebas, chief of naval staff, and Sadiq Baba Abubabar chief of air staff.
