The Kaduna State government has promised to build a rehabilitation home for beggars and physically challenged persons in the state.

This came after the Governor, Nasir El-Rufai paid a visit to their Kano Road Make Shift Home.

Recall that beggars and physically challenged persons in the State, took to the streets protesting the ban on street begging and hawking by the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The ban was announced after a female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device that killed 22 people and injured 32 others at the venue of a Workers Screening Exercise.
The beggars described the ban as an abuse of their fundamental rights as citizens of the state, threatening to seek redress in court if the State government failed to reverse its decision.

After a reconciliation meeting, the State governor revealed that the State had concluded plans to rehabilitate and train them on various skills.

The Leader of People with Disability, Rilwanu Abdullahi, assured that the beggars would leave the streets only when the State government fulfilled its promise.
