The Police Service Commission has distanced itself from an online advertisement on the recruitment of general duty police officers.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the Head, Press and Public Relations, the commission said "The attention of the Police Service Commission has been drawn to an online publication of an advertisement for the recruitment of cadet ASPs in the professional cadre purported to emanate from the commission.
"The commission wishes to state that the said publication did not originate from its office and it is not presently recruiting that category of police officers,".
The general public is advised to disregard the publication, saying the commission is currently investigating the source of the advertisement.
The commission also emphasized that it would continue to use its established channels of communication to disseminate information.
Media houses have also been urged to always cross-check any information before publication.
