Army rescue about 30 women and children abducted by Boko Haram.

The Nigerian Army has said it rescued 30 persons forcefully abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists. 


Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Tukur Gusau,  stated this in a statement in Maiduguri. 

He stated that the rescue was made following its operations in Dikwa, headquarters of Dikwa local government area of Borno.

“As a result of the ongoing operation under the aegies of Operation Lafiya Dole to clear Dikwa and its environs from Boko Haram terrorists, the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday rescued 30 women and children from the hands
of the terrorists in Kwayabe and Wufe wards of Dikwa LGA,” the Deputy Director stated.

According to him, the rescued persons included 21 children a six-day-old infant and seven women; among whom three were nursing mothers. Two elderly male adults were also rescued.

He further stated that troops discovered a training shed where Boko Haram was teaching recruits how to handle weapon and engage aircraft. 

According to him, “Our troops also discovered a training shed inside the vandalised and looted palace of the Shehu of Dikwa where weapons handling and engagement of aircraft were being taught to new Boko Haram recruits.”
