According to reports,  the two suicide bombings on Friday in Yobe, targeting Muslim praying grounds were carried out by a 10-year-old girl and an elderly woman.

The were said to have detonated their devices at screening areas set up by security forces outside two sites where worshippers were gathering for prayers in Damaturu, killing nine people and injuring 18 according to Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman.

Police spokesman Gbadegesin Joshua Toyin had earlier said at least 12 people were killed in the blasts including the two attackers.

The blasts were said to have occurred around 8am at the Eid prayer ground in Damaturu, in an area called phase-one, located along Maiduguri road

Recall that on Thursday evening, two simultaneous explosions ripped through a market in the city of Gombe, the capital of Gombe state, where at least 48 people lost their lives and 58 others were injured, a Red Cross official confirmed.

One of the blasts was caused by a female suicide bomber, while the other was by a bomb hidden in the market, according to the official. 

The deadly attacks bear the signature of the deadly Boko Haram sect, although they have not yet claimed responsibility.

Earlier in the week, gunmen, believed to be Boko Haram insurgents also barricaded a highway that links Damaturu to Benisheik, killing more than 22 motorists.
