Kano State Police Command has said the late Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Munkaila Abdullahi, alongside his wife and two children were not burnt to death but died from inhaling hot and black smoke.
Kano state Police Command’s spokesman, Magaji Majiya on Sunday said that the late Kano REC, his wife and two daughters neither suffered from burns nor physical injuries on their bodies but died of suffocation, after inhaling hot smoke, emitting from a faulty split Air Conditioner hose in his residence.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, the police disclosed that the Kano REC was not burnt to death as published, adding that the truth could be confirmed at the Murtala Mohammed’s Specialist Hospital, where his remains were deposited.
According to the statement, 10 other relatives of the deceased, who slept in the same section of the building, who saw the bodies of the victims after the incident, could also bear witness to the condition of the body of deceased.
