Boko Haram has been pushed out of all occupied territories in northern Nigeria except in three local government areas, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Minimah said on Tuesday.
He said this was achieved after a string of victories against the Islamist militants.
At the start of this year the Islamists, who are fighting to establish an Islamic state Nigeria, controlled around 20 local government areas (LGAs).
Lt. General Kenneth Minimah said "We have three local governments remaining, Abadam, Kalabaldi and Gwoza, and we are optimistic that with time we will liberate those local governments,"
