Doctors in Osun State under the aegis of Association of Medical and Dental Officers have threatened to embark on indefinite strike if the state government fails to pay outstanding salaries of its members on or before Sept. 27.

Chairman of the association, Dr Isiaka Adekunle, made this known on Thursday in Osogbo, asking the state government to also remit all outstanding cooperative and contributory deductions from the doctors' salaries to the appropriate quarters.

"Government should pay all outstanding salaries, union and cooperative deductions; leave bonuses and remit the backlog of contributory pension’s deductions to the relevant pension funds administrators on or before 27th September, 2015.

"Failure of which we will embark on an indefinite withdrawal of our services from Monday, 28th September, 2015." he said.

Their other demands include the state government putting in place, the machinery for immediate implementation of the revised CONMESS circular for medical and dental officers, clearing the arrears of hospital running cost and restoring the provision for such costs.

Adekunle further said the association was not part of the MOU signed by the state chapter of the NLC for the payment of 50 per cent of the state workers’ salaries.
