Arsenal defender Gabriel is to face a one-match ban and pay a £10,000 fine as a result of his clash with Chelsea's Diego Costa last Saturday.

Gabriel, 24, was fined by the Football Association (FA) after he accepted a charge of improper conduct and will serve a one-match ban at Leicester this weekend.

The separate charge is related to his conduct after the referee showed him the red card the FA said.

A statement by the FA read "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct.

"The charge relates to Gabriel's behaviour following his dismissal in or around the 45th minute of the game against Chelsea on Saturday."

"The player, who requested a personal hearing, was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct." FA statement added.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger had earlier said about Gabriel's clash with Costa, "If there is no punishment we are a bit lucky, if there is a punishment I have to take it."

Chelsea's Diego Costa was however handed a three-match ban.
