An 11-month-old baby died Saturday in Georgia, after he was left in a scorching car for more than two hours, authorities said.
Jaxon Taylor was in the car with his grandparents, an aunt and another child when they arrived back at home from church at 3 p.m. in Chickamauga, Weather.com reports
The mother, Mandie Hendershot, was said to have been inside the home, sleeping before going to her third-shift job.
When she woke up, she asked where Jaxon was.
At that point, reports say "They look at each other, and she runs towards the car" only to find the child strapped in the car seat.
The boy was rushed to the hospital – the same hospital where his mother works – but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Both grandparents were said to have presumed the baby Jaxon had been removed from the car.
Although the death was ruled an accident, authorities still haven't decided whether or not charges will be filed
Temperature in Chickamauga was reported to have hit 90 degrees on the day of the incident.
