During a meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) house caucus at the Presidential Villa on Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly ordered the House of Representatives lawmakers in the ongoing crisis to settle their scores within six hours.
According to reports, the meeting lasted for about 30 minutes and the President “did not waste time." He simply reminded members of the party the need for party discipline, noting that "he never wanted to interfere in the affairs of the Legislature, but he’s now forced to do so."
The two prominent figures in the crisis, Yakubu Dogara and Femi Gbajabiamila are therefore, to hold a meeting with the national chairman of the party John Odigie-Oyegun to resolve the problem within the next six hours.
It is widely believed that the crisis led the House of Representatives to postpone its earlier scheduled resumption date from July 21st, 2015, to Tuesday, July 28th 2015.
We sincerely hope that the lawmakers will adhere to these simple instructions and do the right thing.
