Lawyers under the aegis of Lawyers for Change have urged the electorate to vote out President Goodluck Jonathan in the coming election.
The National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana, said this in an interview with journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday during the rally organised by the lawyers to canvass votes for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari ( retd.), and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo ( SAN).
Ogunlana stated that Jonathan did not deserve to be voted for again because he had failed woefully to address fundamental problems confronting the nation since he assumed office almost five years ago.
He explained that such leaders could no longer be given opportunity to continue in the office otherwise the nation would be destroyed beyond repair.
He said, ” President Goodluck Jonathan has not done anything since he came into power. He has always been saying he will fight corruption and insurgency. What has he been doing since?
” Someone who has not done anything since and who is now soliciting for the votes of the people should not be considered as serious.
” Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is an exceptional leader who is passionate about positive change. The position of the vice president is like a neck to the head. Osinbajo will be a good neck for Buhari and Nigerians will experience drastic change with their combination.”
Ogunlana said this was the reason members of the group had started campaigning for the APC presidential candidate and his running mate.
The group said Jonathan administration had failed Nigerians and should not be allowed to continue in office beyond May this year.
According to him, insurgency has claimed many lives in the past four years and has rendered many fatherless and led to massive destruction of property.
He urged those who had yet to collect their permanent voter cards to ensure that they do so before the expiry date.
He said the best thing to do now was to vote Buhari/Osinbajo into office to redirect the “ship of the nation from hitting the rock.”
