Dozens of people, including Boko Haram insurgents, soldiers, vigilantes and residents have been reportedly killed in the outskirts of Maiduguri Sunday during a gun duel.
Boko Haram Fighters had launched an attack on Monguno and Maiduguri Borno state capital on Sunday. Military, government and local sources claimed the Northeastern city of Maiduguri came under attack just after midnight in an attacked that is believed to have started at the edge of the city in the Njimtilo area.
The army said Troops are repelling a simultaneous attack on Monguno and Maiduguri by terrorist in a Coordinated Air and Land Operation.
It also said Curfew has being imposed on Maiduguri with immediate
effect till further notice in pursuit of retreating terrorists.
Meanwhile,Boko haram members on Sunday released 192 out of the 218 people abducted at Katarko town, in Yobe state.
A prominent politician in the area, Alhaji Goni Katarko who was reunited with his family members said that the insurgents called them and asked them to pick the captives at Woron yinwa village.
